Pricing
Credits, no subscription
Composing is bursty — a heavy weekend, then a quiet month — so Kithara has no monthly fee to justify. You buy credits when you're making, spend them per action, and watch every movement in your own ledger. The prices below are the prices in the app.
What actions cost, with no asterisks
A kit — 14 credits
Kits are priced per preset: 2 base + 4 per preset, so the standard three-preset kit is 14 and a big eight-preset kit is 34. You choose the size before you spend.
A variation — 8 credits
The core loop: a new preset anchored on one you point at — same DNA, new lane — spliced into the document beside its source, which is never touched.
A guide melody — 14 credits
10 for the performed render plus 4 for the harmony review that automatically inspects its seams. Re-performing a take with a fresh seed, and chords-only renders, are 0.
A rework — 10 credits
Hand the workbench one instruction — make the melody start later — and get a complete revised plan for the take you're on.
Lyrics — 6 credits
A draft written to your brief and your score's shape, reviewed per section before you accept. Accepting it as a new preset costs nothing.
A composition review — 4 credits
The score-only second opinion: findings on the document and Styles line, no melody required. Applying a review as a new preset is free.
The free parts
Confirming your account grants 40 credits and three starter kits — deliberately enough to build a kit, hear a guide melody with its review, and rework it once before you've paid anything. Re-performs, chords-only renders, exports, and accepting drafts are always 0 credits. Catalog kits are priced individually in credits and delivered as the same editable documents everything else is.
The commitments
These are written into the terms, not this page's fine print: purchased credits you haven't spent are refundable in your first 14 days; if an action's price ever rises, the app gives 14 days' notice first; and if you close your account, your downloads stay open for 30 days.
The money questions
Why credits instead of a subscription?
Because output isn't monthly. A kit habit runs hot for a weekend and cold for a season, and a subscription bills the season. Credits price the work: a full three-preset kit costs 14 credits — about €1.26 on the smallest pack, under a euro on the largest.
How do I pay?
Checkout and billing run entirely on Stripe — we never see your card. Packs apply to your balance instantly, and every grant, spend, and refund is visible in your ledger in the app.
What if a generation fails?
A failed generation refunds itself — the compensating entry lands in your ledger linked to the job that failed. You pay for what the studio delivers, not for what it attempts.
Can prices change?
New actions can appear at new prices, and prices can fall without ceremony. If an existing action's price ever goes up, the app shows 14 days' notice before it takes effect — that commitment is in the terms.
What happens if I close my account?
Your downloads — every kit document and rendered take — stay available for 30 days after the account ends, and unused purchased credits are refunded per the terms. Nothing you made is held hostage.
